We can confirm the schedule for the 2020 HSBC UK | National Road Series and HSBC UK | National Circuit Series, which will again see the country’s top domestic riders battle for series titles throughout a summer of racing.
Won last year by Matt Holmes (Madison Genesis) and Rebecca Durrell (Brother UK – Tifosi p/b OnForm), the men’s and women’s road series – comprising eight and seven rounds respectively – will again complement each other, sharing some race weekends as both build towards their final round at the Grasscrete Ryedale Grand Prix in July.
The men’s series gets under way with the East Cleveland Klondike in April, while the women’s starts at the Rapha Lincoln Grand Prix in May.
The Tour of the Reservoir again provides a two-day stage race for men and women later on in the series, while traditional events such as the Beaumont Trophy, Curlew Cup, Stockton Grand Prix and the CiCLE Classic are joined on the calendar by relative newcomer the Lancaster Grand Prix, and the recently resurrected Circuit of the Mendips.

British Cycling’s Elite Road Racing Manager, Erick Rowsell, says:
“We’re thrilled to confirm three exceptionally strong series, all of which will provide true tests for riders and will help showcase road racing. In recent years we have seen a steady stream of riders make their way into World Tour team reckoning through strong performances in our national series, underlining the importance of a competitive and challenging calendar of races.
“Last year, we introduced a standalone women’s circuit series for the first time. Although we were pleased with the quality of events and competition, we were aware that the high number of races across a road and circuit series stretched the resources of our women’s teams. After consultation with teams, we have decided to again incorporate the women’s circuit event at Otley into the road series, with the intention of reintroducing a standalone circuit series once we believe it to be sustainable.”
Details of the 2020 HSBC UK | National Road Championships and HSBC UK | National Circuit Championships will be confirmed in due course.
Rod Findlay, British Cycling’s Director of Integrity and Compliance, added:
“The three series that we are pleased to confirm today are strong, and again provide British domestic riders with a great platform on which to compete. The commitment of our organisers, volunteers and teams in helping us to finalise this series is vital to the sport, and reflects our desire to ensure that the sport is in as robust health as possible.”
