The Southern Enduro Tour returns to Hot Springs this weekend for the Second Annual Northwoods Enduro, which is being held in conjunction with the Wildcat Marathon.
The mountain biking event is hosted by Northwoods Trails and put on by Slaughter Trail Guides, out of northwest Arkansas. SET hosts regional championships in Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas.
“We’re super stoked about it,” said Traci Berry, Northwoods Trails coordinator. “This is the second year in a row hosting this event; it’s great exposure for our trails. We expect around 300 riders — local, other areas of the state and beyond to come down along with their families and friends.”
The race will be marked and flagged today and patrons to either park are asked to be respectful of the race markings and to not tear down or alter the flags, according to Berry.
Saturday and Sunday, both Northwoods Trails and Cedar Glades Park will be closed to the public until 3 p.m.
The Wildcat Marathon starts Saturday morning with a full marathon of 45 miles or riders can opt for the half-marathon called the Mild Cat, which is 25 miles. Following the marathon after 3 p.m., Northwoods Enduro riders are allowed to practice for their fastest times downhill.
Race organizers ask that visitors to either trail system be respectful to the riders as they prepare for Sunday’s event, Berry said.
The Northwoods Enduro is set for Sunday morning and is a one-day stop with six stages. There will also be a King and Queen award for the top male and female who take on both the Wildcat Marathon and the Northwoods Enduro, she said.
