Construction starting this summer
NEOSHO, Mo. — Jeff Chase is the creator of Bike Neosho on Facebook. He has been advocating for a bike trail in the area for the past five years.
“Being able to ride in my own town, not driving 45 minutes south to ride my bike, being able to ride here that’s the main thing.”
Now his dreams may come to fruition.
“I’m excited I feel like all my City Council meetings and messaging people and all the stuff I’ve done has finally paid off.”
Progressive Bike Ramp company is in phase one of bringing a mountain bike trail to Morse park.
“The goal in phase one is to build five miles of single track trail, also a skills loop so an area for beginners and immediate riders to practice skills and a bicycle playground, which is basically a playground that kids ride their bike one” said Vice President, John Hunter.
The City of Neosho has approved $190,000 in funding for this project.
“We’re excited that the city leaders are progressive enough to invest in something like this and understand it is going to draw people, it’s going to serve the community well, it’s something their citizens really want and demand” added Hunter.
Hunter says this addition to the area would help attract more visitors
“Not only ride their bike in a cool new facility, but they’ll have a slice of pizza, go to one of the restaurants or the new brewery downtown, coffee shops I mean it just brings more people to the community and helps put Neosho on the map with mountain bikers which is now a huge group of people who travel and spend money.”
They are hoping to have the design completed and construction started by summer.
“I’m just excited that it’s finally happening” said Chase.
Once phase one is complete, phase two will be adding more miles to the trail.
