The CEI 2* 120km contest is Saudi Arabia’s most prestigious distance riding event. The 120km endurance race involves riders completing four laps through desert dunes and mountain peaks in pursuit of a share of a SR15 million (Dh14.69m) jackpot. The event is considered to be one of the most important endurance races in the region, with 200 competitors from 17 countries taking part. The winning pair – Sheikh Hamdan and Utoufa de Lap – maintained an average speed of 26.47kph during the course of the ride and were clocked at 4 hours 35 minutes and 13 seconds, winning by just fractions of a second from MRM Stables’ Saif Ahmed Mohammed Al Mazrouei who clocked the same time aboard Razorback Mechano.
