Detroit Mountain Recreation Area and Minnesota Mountain Bike Series is excited to host the 4th Annual Shakedown Mountain Bike Race at Detroit Mountain this Sunday, June 2.
This is the second race of a 10-part series for the Minnesota Mountain Bike Series. Registration opens at 8 a.m. on Sunday, with the first race beginning at 9 a.m. Racers can register the morning of, and the community is welcome to come out and support the racers.
“We are excited to promote recreational programming at Detroit Mountain for all four seasons.” said Jeff Staley, Detroit Mountain’s general manager. “Many of the racers and their families travel to Detroit Lakes from the Minneapolis-Saint Paul area, but some as far away as Wisconsin and Canada. The racers comment on the quality of Detroit Mountain ‘s mountain biking trail system, as well as the services our friendly community offers.”
The Detroit Mountain Shakedown Mountain Bike Race is a singletrack mountain bike race with classes of Kid’s Comp, Citizen, Marathon, Sport, Expert Men, Expert Women, and Comp races.
Detroit Mountain’s trails will be closed at sunset on Saturday, June 1 and will reopen at 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 2. Lift service operations will also be suspended on June 2 for the race and on June 8-9 for routine lift maintenance.
